Gerald Finley was the vocal soloist in the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms, joining conductor Sir Andrew Davis, the saxophonist Jess Gillam, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Singers and the BBC Symphony Chorus. He sang Stanford’s Songs of the Sea, the Soliloquy from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel, and led the audience in famous War Songs from WW1. In “Rule Brittania”, he produced a Canadian flag in honour of his birthland. The event was broadcast on BBC 1 and 2, on BBC Radio 3 and online and by broadcasters around the world.
