Dublin-born David Corr was a scholar of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he completed a Master’s in Performance (Vocal Studies) under the tutelage of Scott Johnson. He is the 2021/2022 recipient of the Irish Heritage Brackaville Bursary for Vocal Studies.
David has developed a strong reputation for performing Irish songs, English songs, Oratorio and Opera and has performed in many prestigious venues including the National Concert Hall, Wigmore Hall (London) the Royal Overseas League’ Princess Alexandra’s Hall (London). David has performed in main stage productions with Irish National Opera and Northern Ireland Opera. He was a member of Northern Ireland’s Opera’s Studio (2019 – 2020) and performed widely in that role throughout Northern Ireland. In 2020 David participated in the Glenarm Festival of Voice and won the prestigious Deborah Voigt Opera Prize and the Voice of Northern Ireland.
Most recently David won the O’Mara Cup (Male Voices Operatic Competition) and the Young Cup (Drawing Room Ballads) at Feis Ceoil 2022. His solo Oratorio performances have included performing in Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saens, Haydn’s Creation, and Handel’s Messiah. In 2021 David performed Opera Scenes (RCS) singing the roles of Le Dancaïre (Carmen), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte), and Mercurio (La Calisto).
David recently participated in a Masterclass with Dame Janet Baker in May 2022, Opera Scenes (RCS) singing Albert (Werther) and Taddeo (L’italiana in Algeri), and the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival Irish Heritage Bursary Recital in June 2022.
